With horseracing being the company’s main area of Corporate Hospitality, it comes as no surprise that when Racecourse Managers want carpet, the odds-on favourite is a genuine Axminster from Axminster Carpets Ltd.
The Queen’s Stand at Epsom is a prime example; the brief to Axminster’s designer, Gary Bridge, was to create a multi-directional design with a blue ground shade. The design had to incorporate the pale grey of the walls, but with added warmth. Gary also had to create a carpet, which though modern in style, was also complementary to the exterior architecture
The result was a Royal Clovelly quality, with 80% wool and 20% nylon. The ground shade was Viking Blue, with grey, pale blue and gold making up the design. The carpet weight is 44 ozs per square yard (1493 gsm) and at 3,200 square metres was expertly fitted by Linney Cooper of Llandudno.
